SASH Fellow 2014 – 2015
Cal is the Director of HAICU at UCT. She is responsible for its strategic direction and the management of activities that include research, communications, training and education. Cal has a background in health promotion and management and an MA from Rhodes. She has worked in HIV/AIDS prevention, education and management for the past 10 years and has been nominated for several awards for her work. She has published on Higher Education and AIDS and has consulted to clients such as Balisa, Dept. of Health, NACOSA, McMillan, The AIDS Legal Network and The Cancer Association of South Africa.

Our mixed method quasi experimental design randomized a control and intervention group to examine the feasibility and acceptability of a peer educational intervention to teach about gender norms and bystander interventions to diminish gender based violence (GBV) and HIV transmission among South African Higher Education students.
